Murder On My Mind

4

Having just met my 3/1 deadline (with a whopping fifteen minutes to go until the clock announced it was 3/2), I’m in the mood for murder.

In books, of course (she says, just in case that horrible neighbor who saws wood and trims his trees starting every morning at about 6:00 suddenly keels over). So instead of attempting to impart sage advice (usually wrong) or make y’all smile (which often tanks), today I’m asking for advice.

Any great murder mysteries you could recommend? I like funny whodunits and witty legal thrillers and can’t-stop-turning-the-pages suspense/thrillers. I even enjoy true drama, a la Ann Rule, but she, unfortunately hasn’t found a cool murder to write about. Just about anything but medical thrillers. I spent too much time in a hospital once upon a time to enjoy anything that has to do with medicine.

So please, ladies and gents, suggestions of great murders you’ve read about lately or ever. I would so appreciate it, and love to hear about books that really…umm…gotcha!

Thanks!

Trish

I enjoy the Daisy Dalrymple series by Carola Dunn. They’re not funny, per se, but they are lighthearted (for murder mysteries  ). Have you read Jana DeLeon’s books? She has three out and they’re all funny. Oh! And the Meg Langslow series by Donna Andrews! They’re great fun.

Thanks so much for the recommends! They sound right up my alley, and they’d all be new-to-me authors.

 I have to recommend Tamar Meyers and her Penn Dutch Inn series. They’re cozy, amateur sleuth murder mysteries. The titles alone are a hoot: The Hand That Rocks The Ladle, Between a Wok and a Hard Place, Just Plain Pickled To Death, Play It Again, SpamĀ® to name a few. Read them in order. They feature Magdelena Yoder, a Mennonite who runs a bed & breakfast in (I kid you not) Hernia, Pennsylvania. In between chapters are recipes.

    Cheryl!

Did you know that I’m half PA Dutch? Boy, do these sound good! Hope they’re available on Audible or Kindle. Whenever I do something right, my dad says it comes from his blue blood (we’re direct descendants of Miles Standish AND John Alden from Mayflower fame) and whenever I do something dumb, it’s that tainted PA Dutch side that’s responsible. :) And I currently live smack dab in the middle of Amish country. And since PA has a town called Intercourse, I wouldn’t even blink at a town called Hernia. :) Thanks!!
