Uh-Oh

Being recently single has its upsides. For example, you’re recently single. And then it has its downsides. For example, you’re recently single.

I’m adoring my singleness. Truly. Really! Oh, hell, I’m overloving my dog and cat. It wouldn’t be so bad if I weren’t the third wheel in everything I do with friends and family. “Table for four?” “No, five.” “Oh. That one doesn’t have a date, I take it?”

But here’s the thing. I met a guy. A wonderful guy. And we’re having a wonderful time talking on the phone. But not having such a great time finding a date to have…well, dates.

And I don’t know how to do that (THAT, being dating) any longer. I write romance and I can’t figure out how to manage one. Am I pathetic, or what?

I’ve been practicing with my dog. But she isn’t much help, considering her idea of a date involves treats and sniffing the bottom of stop signs. I doubt my date will be interested in the sniffing part.

Bottom line, I need help. Dating tips, please? Please? He’s really cute in that annoying way men have of aging much more deliciously than women do. He’s an athlete. He’s very successful and loves vacationing at beaches. I’d hate him if I didn’t like him so much.

I can’t match up to this. At all. Help, ladies? Please? Who knows how to date?
