Fans Mean Everything

0

I love feedback from people who read my books. Even the nasty ones, because it helps me learn what people like and dislike about them. And it also makes me somewhat happy that those jackasses with no taste probably paid money for them.

But I don’t have a gazzilion fans. My buddy and critique partner, Sandra Hill, does. In fact, she has the most amazing fans that it blows me away.

There’s the woman who insisted on being buried with a Sandra Hill book in her hand, because Sandra’s books were the only thing that kept her laughing while she was dying of cancer. This woman wanted everyone to smile when they came up to see her with that book in her hand.

Sandra received a note signed by an entire navy crew who passed her book around while they were out at sea, telling her how much she’d helped them pass the time and helped them laugh.

Sandra just received a note from someone who told her that she and her entire crew on an archeological dig in Greece spent their time off reading her books.

And then there’s this. A fan who actually put together an amazing clip of her fandom for Sandra.

I WISH I had her following. And her impact on people.

My only following is my dog when she knows it’s puppy supper time.

Authors want to make a difference, believe it or not. My friend, Sandra, has and will. I aspire to be her.

Best,

Trish Jensen
