I’ve just finished this novel set in 1948 postwar Louisianna. Ms. Leigh’s powerful handling of such an emotionally charged set of issues is nothing short of masterful. She captured the torment and terror and courage of the breast cancer survivor, but maybe just as importantly, she also painted a captivating picture of those people who surround the survivor; their fears and dreams, their strengths and weaknesses, and the impact that her illness has on each of them.
Truly a story of courage, love, innocence, hope and faith, Vow is a read that’s difficult to put down. I was behind enemy lines with the hero just as surely as I could picture Jilly’s heartbreaking tears. The layers of history, passion, love and courage will leave you wishing for more when you reach the end. Can’t wait to see what Ms. Leigh’s next novel tackles. Bravo, Judith Leigh
